The Anker 332 can connect a compatible laptop to an HDMI monitor. The important word is compatible: a USB-C socket that transfers files does not automatically carry video. Before buying a hub, find the manual for your exact laptop model and check the capabilities of the port you plan to use.

Which connection carries the picture?

Anker’s FAQ requires a host port with DisplayPort Alt Mode for HDMI output. Connect the hub’s attached USB-C cable to that laptop port, then connect an HDMI cable from the hub to the monitor. The hub’s separate USB-C data port cannot output video; plugging a USB-C monitor into that socket will not create a second display connection.

If the screen stays blank, select its HDMI input and check the cable. Anker also recommends trying another computer or HDMI cable to isolate the cause. A hub cannot add video support to a laptop port that lacks it.

4K resolution does not mean 4K at 60Hz

The specified HDMI ceiling is 3840 × 2160 at 30Hz. Anker also lists 1080p at 60Hz. For a spreadsheet or occasional presentation, the resolution may be adequate; for someone prioritizing smoother motion on a 4K desktop, the 30Hz limit is a reason to compare another hub. This is an assessment of the published limit, not a measured performance result.

What else does the A8355 provide?

The US specification lists two USB-A data ports and one USB-C data port, each rated up to 5Gbps, plus HDMI and a USB-C Power Delivery input. Treat transfer rates as specification ceilings rather than promised file-copy speeds.

Power input is rated up to 100W, with up to 85W passed to the laptop. Anker explains that the hub reserves 15W; connecting a 140W charger does not raise its input ceiling. Your charger, cable and laptop requirements still matter. Compare the laptop’s normal adapter rating before assuming pass-through charging will replace it.

Practical advantages

One connection can bring an HDMI screen and USB accessories to a compatible laptop. Anker describes plug-and-play operation without a separate driver. It suits a modest desk setup where those particular connections cover the job.

Limitations

The USB-C data socket is not a monitor output. The 4K refresh limit may rule it out for your display preference, and laptop charging tops out below the input rating. It is worth listing your required ports before choosing a five-port model.

Before ordering in the US

Match the listing to the Anker 332 5-in-1 A8355, confirm the selected variant and seller, and check returns and included accessories. Separately confirm your laptop’s video support, monitor input, HDMI cable and charging equipment. Check current price and availability on Amazon; neither is fixed in this guide.
