A repeatable weighing routine
Etekcity’s manual says to select the unit and zero the unloaded scale, then loop the strap through the luggage handle and attach its hook to the triangle ring. Lift gently with the scale horizontal and balanced. Wait for the reading to stabilize, flash three times and lock before reading it. For another measurement, slacken the strap and reset to zero. The locked reading remains for two minutes before automatic shutoff if no button is pressed.
For your own packing routine, close the bag with everything you intend to check inside. Make two separate lifts after resetting. If the results differ enough to affect your decision, repack for more margin and check again instead of choosing the more convenient number. Do not attempt a lift that strains your grip or back; the scale’s load rating does not establish what is safe for you to lift.

Use a bathroom scale for a rough pre-trip check if the bag sits on it securely. A hanging scale avoids that balancing problem and can travel with you, but requires a safe lift. Do not treat either method as a reason to pack to the last displayed fraction.
