The quick decision

Start with the fit you already enjoy. Shortlist the Q20i if you prefer over-ear headphones and have room in your bag. Shortlist the P30i if you like in-ear listening and want a compact case.

Before buying, compare battery figures using the same ANC setting. A charging-case total is not uninterrupted listening time. We have not tested either model side by side, so this guide does not name a sound-quality winner.

The Q20i and P30i differ first in format: ear cups and a headband versus earbuds and a charging case. That affects wearing pressure, storage space and charging habits before you compare any advertised audio features.

The table below gathers the published specifications. Read the battery row carefully: the quoted figures use different ANC settings, and the P30i case total includes top-ups.

Battery figures are manufacturer claims under stated conditions. They are not our test results, and the figures above do not use the same ANC setting.

Choose around your wearing preference

If you find in-ear tips uncomfortable, that may settle the decision before any specification does. The Q20i avoids that particular fit, but a headband and ear cups bring their own considerations. Think about how your usual headphones feel after an hour, especially if you wear glasses.

The P30i puts the fit question inside the ear. Check the available ear-tip options and the seller’s return terms. A good fit matters more than a long list of features you will rarely use.

How much are you willing to carry?

Check the pocket or compartment where the audio gear will go. The P30i has a smaller carrying format, but both earbuds need to make it back into their case. The Q20i needs more room and has no separate earbuds to misplace.

For a journey with repeated stops, consider how often you remove the audio gear and where you put it. For desk use, compare the wearing format you can tolerate for the length of your sessions.

The battery numbers need context

Do not compare the Q20i’s headline runtime with the P30i’s case total as though both describe uninterrupted listening. A case total includes additional charges from the case. A per-charge figure describes a different situation.

Also match the noise-cancellation setting when reading the specifications. For a long session, focus on the device’s own runtime in the mode you plan to use. For several short outings, think about how reliably you remember to charge the whole kit.

The P30i case has an extra job

Soundcore describes the P30i charging case as a phone stand as well. Its support FAQ says the earbuds must be removed while using that stand.

That could be handy for occasional hands-free viewing, but check whether the stand suits your phone and case before treating it as a replacement for a dedicated stand. It is an extra convenience, not a reason on its own to choose an in-ear fit you do not enjoy.

What this comparison cannot tell you

We have not listened to these products side by side. We cannot rank their sound, microphone performance, comfort, or noise reduction from a specification sheet. For those questions, look for independent tests with listening conditions and microphone samples.

Choose the Q20i format if you prefer ear cups and can carry the larger item. Choose the P30i format if you prefer in-ear tips and a small case. A sound-quality or microphone winner would require testing we have not performed.
